Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our client’s data services team in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will support all aspects of database operations, including design, performance tuning, security, maintenance, disaster recovery, and integration with enterprise applications. This role requires a mix of development, performance optimization, and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
? Database Development & Management
- Develops, tests, debugs, and documents complex SQL programs, scripts, and procedures.
- Assists in the design and implementation of relational database models.
- Creates, loads, and maintains production and test databases.
? Performance Tuning & Optimization
- Monitors and tunes database performance, performs benchmarking and threshold testing.
- Analyzes query performance and optimizes indexing strategies.
? Backup & Recovery
- Executes database backup, restore, and recovery procedures according to disaster recovery protocols.
- Supports failover and high availability environments.
? Security & Compliance
- Assists in defining and implementing database security standards.
- Maintains user access control, ensures compliance with data protection policies.
? Collaboration & Documentation
- Coordinates with developers, analysts, and system administrators on system enhancements and data integration.
- Develops and maintains technical and user documentation.
- Participates in code walk-throughs and supports team training as needed.
Technical Skills Required:
- Strong experience in relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and stored procedures.
- Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with database monitoring tools and data dictionary management.
- Working knowledge of database security, disaster recovery, and system integration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in database administration roles.
- Experience with logical and physical data modeling, normalization, and prototyping.
- Understanding of network protocols, distributed systems, and application development life cycle.
Ability to lead performance assessments, define best practices, and recommend architectural improvements.
