Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant

 

Location - 3 days on site Annapolis, MD - 21401 - Hybrid

QUALIFICATIONS

2. The Offeror shall propose a resource that meet the following minimum qualifications:

a. Bachelor’s degree, or postgraduate degree, in engineering, computer science, or related field (as determined by the AOC).

(1) b. The AOC has pre-determined that degrees in the following fields are not related: Bachelors in Agricultural and Resource Economics and Masters in Business Administration.

Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE). (1) The certification must be issued by Red Hat.

(2) The certification may be either current or non-current, provided that the certification ID is supplied and in valid status for the proposed resource. The AOC prefers the Offeror’s proposed resource to have the following qualifications:

a. Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.

b. Ten (10) or more years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.

c. Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.

 

SCOPE OF WORK

a. Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.

b. Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.

c. Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.

d. Implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.

e. Configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ecosystem tools.

f. Collaborating with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.

g. Maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.

h. Supporting application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deployments.

i. Maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

j. Participating in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.

k. Setup Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.

l. Configuring Chron jobs for both systems and applications.

 

OFFEROR RESOURCE(S) SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & CAPABILITIES

(1) Working in a complex networked system environment with strong networking.

(2) Administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.

(3) Administering systems including, but not limited to, the applications below: i Oracle WebLogic Servers ii Oracle Database Servers iii Progress 4GL/Database Servers/OpenEdge iv Apache Web Servers v vSphere hosted RHEL Servers. vi Rubrik backup systems. vii Oracle Database backups. viii PeopleSoft ix Mobius x Elastic Search xi Oracle OBI xii CVS (Concurrent Version System)

(4) Red Hat performance tuning.

(5) Load balancing, partitioning, back-up/recovery, and disaster recovery.

(6) Working in an environment that requires 24/7 system availability.

(7) Application development.

(8) Red Hat Support.

(9) Electronic Imaging Support.

 

b. Ability to: (1) Work in a team environment. (2) Communicate effectively with internal and external personnel. (3) Demonstrate leadership skills. (4) Interface with users and helpdesk for day-to-day support. (5) Provide Backup/recovery and networking methodologies. (6) Troubleshoot at the Operating System (OS), database, and application levels.

c. Knowledge of: (1) Red Hat administration including configuration and tuning.
