Title: VMWare Administrator

Duration: Contract

Location: Seattle, WA (onsite)

Job Description:

The VMware Horizon VDI Administrator is responsible for the management and operation of the VMware Horizon Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). This role involves ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organizational functions. The administrator will serve as a Level 3 escalation point for Service Desk and Tier 2 for a geographically diverse end-user population, providing direct end-user support and interaction for troubleshooting user-related and system issues. Responsibilities also include patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UAGs, Connection Servers, vCenters, as well as working knowledge of ESXi hosts, clusters, and vSAN. App Volumes, DEM, and applicable knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and GPO are also essential.

 

Mandatory Skills:

  • Strong Knowledge and understanding of VMware Horizon (Connection Server, client, Agent)
  • Managing and VMware vSphere Server, including VM provisioning, Image Management and Resource Management.
  • Expertise in Desktop Pool Management (Creating and Managing Desktop Pools (Floating Vs Dedicated) and managing App volumes, Image Management.
  • Strong Knowledge in VMware User environment Manager (UEM) or similar tools for user profile management.
  • Good Knowledge in understanding VLANs, Network Security, Active directory (GPO)

 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Level 3 escalation point, providing support for a diverse end-user population.
  • Managing a thin/zero client device, and experience with a call center or using VoIP
  • UAG, DEM, App Vols, golden image, horizon agent, instant clone, RDSH
  • Oversee the VMware Horizon VDI environment, including provisioning hosts, remediating hosts, and setting up virtual machines.
  • Perform patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UAGs, Connection Servers, and vCenters.
  • Manage App Volumes, DEM, and have applicable knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and GPO.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of VDI Master Images - Win 10/11 base OS and business-specific applications.
  • Manage RDSH Session Hosts for Remote Apps
  • Maintain working knowledge of ESXi hosts, clusters, and vSAN.
