We are looking for a detail-oriented AIX Engineer with hands-on experience in IBM P-series hardware, firmware, HMCs, and the AIX operating system to maintain system performance, availability, and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance and health checks on IBM Power Systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of AIX Legacy operating systems and system firmware.
- Proficient in scripting and automation using tools such as Bash, Python, Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.
- Skilled in using system monitoring tools and performing performance tuning to ensure optimal system operation.
- Administer HMCs, Logical Partitions (LPARs), and Virtual I/O (VIO) servers. Monitor system performance and support capacity planning initiatives.
- Apply firmware updates, patches, and system upgrades in accordance with change management controls.
- Extensive troubleshooting skills and independently able to perform hardware repairs and replacements and provide solutions.
- Collaborate with storage teams to execute backup and recovery procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, incidents, and changes. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and OS-level issues while working closely with database, application, network, and storage teams.
- Experience in ITAR-regulated environments is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of ITAR compliance to ensure secure handling of technical data and controlled information.
- Provide dedicated on-site support at the client location in Wichita, KS, ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional IT teams—including network, database, application, and security—to resolve infrastructure issues and implement system enhancements.
- Compliance: Comply with the ITIL process and meet the SLA requirements.
- Provide regular reports on system performance, security compliance, and infrastructure changes to management and stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- IBM Certified System Administrator – AIX (or equivalent experience).
- Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible) and system monitoring tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
